Mumbai: The Shivaji Park Police have booked a 55-year-old man, Mahendra D. Sanklecha, for allegedly violating a High Court directive by feeding pigeons from a tray placed on the roof of his car.

According to police, the incident took place around 7:30 a.m. on August 9 near the Gol Hanuman Temple in Dadar (West). Sanklecha reportedly arrived in a Honda Amaze (MH 01 BK 9038), placed a tray on the roof, and began feeding pigeons, drawing objections from local residents.

A video of the act later circulated on WhatsApp, allegedly showing him stating that more vehicles would come to feed pigeons in the same manner. Civic staff and traffic police confirmed the violation of the court’s order prohibiting pigeon feeding in public places.

Following a complaint by BMC junior supervisor Sandesh Vikram Matkar, police registered a case under sections 223, 270, and 271 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Sanklecha has been issued a notice and released, with further investigation underway.
