Mumbai : The Mumbai Crime Branch’s Unit 8 has arrested two brothers — Prateek Prakash Dhruv (32) and Chetan Prakash Dhruv (35) — for allegedly cheating a Mumbai-based chartered accountant of ₹6.4 crore through a fake strawberry farming and greenhouse investment scheme in Rajkot, Gujarat.
According to police, the accused lured the victim in September 2021 by promising lucrative returns from a greenhouse strawberry cultivation project. They claimed the venture required ₹7.5 crore, assuring the victim he would invest 60% while the brothers would contribute the remaining 40%.
To win his trust, they even took him to a one-acre greenhouse in Rajkot, presenting it as their own operational site. However, investigations later revealed that the facility was not linked to them and the invested money was siphoned off into shell company accounts for personal use.
Following the complaint, Crime Branch Unit 8 launched a probe and arrested the duo. Police said further investigation is underway to trace the misappropriated funds and identify other possible victims.
