Pune : Pune police have registered a case against five individuals after a married woman ended her life, allegedly due to prolonged domestic violence and harassment.
According to officials, the 23-year-old victim had been facing constant abuse from her in-laws and husband. Unable to bear the mental and physical torture, she reportedly took the extreme step.
An FIR has been lodged under charges of abetment to suicide, dowry harassment, and other relevant sections. Police said further investigation is underway to gather evidence and record statements from witnesses.
This incident has once again brought to light the persistent issues of domestic violence and dowry-related abuse faced by women in several parts of the country.
