Mumbai: Minister of State for Home (Urban) Yogesh Kadam has instructed officials to intensify the fight against the sale, purchase, and transportation of narcotic drugs across Maharashtra. Chairing a review meeting at the Mantralaya, he called for a time-bound plan to identify hotspots, set up regional Anti-Narcotics Task Force offices, and expedite recruitment.

Highlighting coastal regions as key drug trafficking routes, Kadam directed the deployment of advanced tools, vehicles, and enhanced surveillance in these areas. He also stressed faster disposal of pending court cases related to narcotics.

In a separate directive, Kadam ordered that all 1,800 contract-based sanitation workers in police stations be paid minimum wages in line with the government’s January 27, 2017 notification. He assured parity in pay and benefits with workers in other departments, clearance of pending arrears from 2017, and additional benefits for permanent staff as per the Lad-Paghe Committee recommendations.

“No sanitation worker should face injustice,” he asserted.
