Mumbai : -The Government of Maharashtra has officially declared August 8 (Raksha Purnima, also known as Narali Purnima) and September 2 (Jyeshtha Gauri Visarjan) as public holidays for state and semi-government offices across Mumbai and its suburban regions.
As a result of the August 8 declaration, schools and colleges across Mumbai will remain closed. In response, Mumbai University has postponed all examinations scheduled for that day, with a revised timetable to be announced soon.

Narali Purnima (Raksha Purnima) is a significant tradition among coastal communities—particularly those in Maharashtra and Goa—marked by offerings to the sea and prayers for safe fishing livelihoods.
Jyeshtha Gauri Visarjan marks the ceremonial immersion of Gauri idols, symbolizing the conclusion of worship, and is observed on September 2 in 2025.
