In a dramatic incident at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Kishore Shinde and four of his associates have been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for allegedly barging into the office of PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram and threatening him.
The accused — Kishore Shinde, Prashant Mate, Narendra Tamboli, Avinash Jadhav, and Mahesh Lad — have been charged under BNS Sections 132 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from duty) and 189(2) (unlawful assembly).
According to the complaint filed at Shivajinagar Police Station, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the group forcibly entered the Commissioner’s cabin during an official meeting attended by over 30 civic officials. They reportedly pushed aside security guards and issued threats to the Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner Prithviraj BP, warning them they would not be “allowed to stay in Maharashtra.”
Witnesses said some party workers climbed the PMC gate and shouted slogans, creating a scene outside the main building.
Commissioner Ram told the media that he was engaged in a meeting when the group stormed in. “I spoke to Shinde in Marathi and asked him to leave in Hindi. He took offense to that and turned it into a Marathi-Hindi issue,” Ram said, calling the behavior “unruly and objectionable.”
Shinde denied wrongdoing and accused the Commissioner of calling him an “MNS goon,” adding that the CCTV footage would clarify the truth.
MNS workers claimed they were demanding an inquiry into missing household items — including antique lamps, TVs, and an AC unit — from the civic chief’s official residence in Model Colony. However, Ram asserted no documents or formal complaints were presented during the disruption and said an inquiry into the missing items was already underway.
Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi confirmed that notices have been issued to all five accused, and the case is under investigation. No arrests have been made as of yet.
