Mumbai :- A high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was held at the Ministry in Mumbai to address the ongoing challenges faced by the Marathi film industry. The discussion focused on the lack of screen availability for Marathi films in multiplexes, the abrupt removal of films within three days without notice to producers, non-refund of remaining weekly fees, and frequent complications in obtaining censor board clearances.

In response, the government has decided to form a dedicated committee to provide extra shows for Marathi movies in multiplexes and to find permanent solutions to various industry concerns. This committee will include senior officials such as the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Chief Secretaries from Urban Development and Cultural Works departments, Transport Secretary, representatives from producers, distributors, multiplex owners, Filmcity, Film Corporation, and other film-related organizations.

The committee is expected to be formed within one and a half months and will submit a detailed report to the government, after which concrete decisions will be made. Deputy CM Shinde assured that the government is committed to supporting and promoting Marathi cinema and will take favorable steps in this direction.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Cultural Affairs Ashish Shelar, Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Home Minister Yogesh Kadam, Finance Minister of State Ashish Jaiswal, MLA Dr. Manisha Kayande, and key stakeholders from the Marathi film industry including Ameya Khopkar (MNS Film Sena), Sushant Shelar (Shiv Sena), Babasaheb Patil (Rashtravadi Film Sena), distributor Sameer Dixit, and Meghraj Rajebhosale (Film Corporation).
