Mumbai : A shocking incident from Vasai, a 32-year-old man has confessed to murdering his 61-year-old stepmother after she refused to give him ₹1.8 lakh for online gaming expenses. The crime took place on July 26 in the D-Mart area under the jurisdiction of a local police station.
The accused, identified as Imran, was residing with his stepmother Arshiya Khusro and father Mohammad Khusro (65) at Periyar Apartment. Following a heated argument over money, Imran allegedly slammed Arshiya’s head against a wall and assaulted her with fists and kicks, leading to her death.
In an attempt to cover up the crime, Imran reportedly informed his father, cleaned the bloodstains, and removed gold ornaments from a cupboard. The family, with the help of a doctor, arranged a fake death certificate and buried Arshiya’s body at a local crematorium.
The incident came to light when Arshiya’s brother grew suspicious about her sudden death and began inquiring into the matter. Upon interrogation, Imran confessed to the murder during police questioning.
The crime branch, led by Senior Inspector Sameer Ahirrao, visited the residence and interrogated both family members and neighbors. Police have arrested Imran and are investigating the role of the doctor involved in issuing the fake death certificate.
Further investigation is ongoing.
