In a shocking murder investigation in Nalasopara East, Vasai, the body of 32‑year‑old Vijay Chauhan was discovered buried beneath newly laid floor tiles in his own home. His phone had remained unanswered for nearly three weeks, prompting relatives to investigate. Suspicions were raised when they spotted unevenly coloured tiles, leading to the grim discovery .

Pelhar Police have since arrested Vijay’s wife, Chaman Devi (28), and their neighbour, Monu Sharma (20), in Pune. The couple allegedly fled with their 6‑year‑old child on July 19 after committing the crime. They were brought back to Palghar and held in police custody . Investigators believe Chaman hired a labourer to dig the burial pit, and deceived Vijay’s brother into laying the final tiles, unknowingly concealing the body .

Post‑mortem results are pending to determine the exact cause and time of death, which is suspected to be in early July
