Mumbai:-A bomb threat targeting the ISKCON temple in Girgaon has sparked heightened security and a full-scale police investigation. An anonymous email sent to the temple’s official address claimed that five RDX-based IEDs would be detonated within 16 hours if political demands were not met.
The threat was reported on July 20 around 7:30 PM by Rahul Shantaram Govekar (40), the temple’s Security Manager. The alarming message was sent from the email ID Immanuel_sekaran@outlook.com to info@iskconchowpatty.com, warning of potential explosions if the DMK Government failed to act on recommendations made by the late Nainar Dass of the Tamil Nadu Police Association.
Immediately after the email was received, it was forwarded to the head of ISKCON’s Security Department, Ambadas Manik Kajale, who then alerted the police. A Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), along with local police teams, conducted a thorough inspection of the premises but found no explosives or suspicious materials.
Gamdevi Police have registered an FIR against an unidentified individual and are working with cyber experts and the crime branch to trace the origin of the email. The investigation is currently ongoing.
