Man Booked for Unleashing Pet Dog on 12-Year-Old Boy in Mankhurd

Mumbai : In a disturbing incident from Mankhurd, a 43-year-old man has been booked for allegedly unleashing his pet dog on a 12-year-old boy, causing severe injuries and mental trauma.

The incident took place on the night of July 17 in MHADA Colony, Mankhurd, when the child, Hamza, son of Haleem Jamil Khan, was innocently playing in a parked auto-rickshaw. Mohammed Sohail Hasan Khan, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, allegedly set his aggressive dog on the child.

According to eyewitnesses, Khan was seen laughing while the dog attacked the terrified boy, biting him on the jaw and chasing him as he tried to flee. Viral videos of the incident have sparked widespread outrage, with disturbing visuals capturing bystanders laughing during the attack.

Hamza’s family was horrified after watching the video online. His father immediately lodged a police complaint, following which Mankhurd Police registered a case and arrested Khan. He was later released after being served a legal notice.

Khan, an AC mechanic by profession, resides in the same neighborhood. Police investigations are ongoing. The incident has raised serious concerns about pet ownership responsibility and child safety in residential areas
