Unemployed Youth Steals Rickshaw in Kalyan to Buy Alcohol, Arrested

Kalyan : A 26-year-old man was arrested in Kalyan after he allegedly stole an auto-rickshaw to buy alcohol due to unemployment and intoxication. The incident took place on April 18 in the Koregaon area of Kalyan East.

The accused, identified as Pranjal Manoj Barve, is a resident of New Jimmy Baug and works as an AC technician. On the day of the incident, he was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when he stole a parked rickshaw from Jai Shrihari Chawl. He drove it around until the CNG fuel ran out and then abandoned the vehicle near the Vitthalwadi bus depot.

Acting on the complaint filed by the rickshaw owner, Kolsewadi Police scanned CCTV footage and arrested the accused. The stolen vehicle, worth ₹65,000, was recovered.

Police revealed that the accused had a history of stealing rickshaws while intoxicated and had committed similar offenses in Nalasopara, Bhayandar, Vasai, and Dahisar. Investigations are ongoing.
