40-Year-Old Auto Driver Injured in Acid-Like Attack in Bandra, Police Launch Manhunt for Accused

Mumbai :- In a shocking incident, a 40-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, Ateeq Khan, sustained serious injuries after an unidentified person threw an acid-like substance on him in Bandra West late Sunday night.

The attack occurred around 12:15 am in Qureshi Nagar, near Bada Masjid, while Khan and his brother were on their way to buy medicine for their sister. The unidentified assailant fled the scene immediately after the attack, and the motive remains unclear.

Khan suffered burns on his back, near his right ear, and above his left eye. He was rushed to Bhabha Hospital for treatment and later filed a complaint at Bandra Police Station.

Police have registered an FIR under Section 124(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid, etc.) and are actively searching for the accused.

Hina Khan, the victim’s wife, said they have no personal disputes and pointed out the presence of individuals with criminal backgrounds in the locality. However, she did not name any suspects.

Authorities continue to investigate the case, and a police officer confirmed that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the attacker.
